Unemployed - Is it Time For a Career Change?

If you have been unemployed six months or longer and have been actively seeking employment in the same field you were laid-off from, then you might want to consider a career change! This is how to make that change:

Every unemployment office in America has access to a federal program that provides GRANTS (no, not LOANS) that will let you go back to either college, or attend a trade school (technical college) so that you can get FREE training or education to enter a field that you want to pursue. THIS IS FREE MONEY!

All you have to do is go to your local unemployment office, and ask to speak to someone about the Workforce Investment Act, or "WIA" program (pronounced "WEE-UH").

You will have to attend a few short classes, take a career assessment inventory (gives you an idea what type of work you are suited for based on your answers) and then be given a LIST of programs and educational institutions that the WIA program, through your state, will PAY FOR! The state will GIVE YOU up to two years worth of tuition to attend! Let me say this again: IT IS FREE MONEY - A GRANT, THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPAY, even if you don't complete the program.

The grant covers ALL TUITION and BOOKS. Nothing comes out of your pocket except the cost of transportation to get to class.

So, if it looks like you're going to be unemployed for a LONG TIME, you might as well GO BACK TO SCHOOL on the government's dime and get a degree or training in something you are REALLY INTERESTED IN DOING for the rest of your life (or at least until you retire).

And to you older folks, don't let your AGE become a factor that keeps you away! I went back to Technical School at the age of 53 and in May of 2010, will graduate with my Diploma as a Medical Coding and Reimbursement Specialist. And it only took me ONE YEAR!

They have programs that cover a multitude of training programs: nursing, HVAC, truck driving, ASE Certified Mechanics, graphic arts, beauty school (hairdressers), accounting, secretarial, paralegal, and medical assistant, to name a few! There are HUNDREDS of programs of study available!

Call or go down to your local unemployment office TODAY and ask about the WIA program.
